Maverick - Americana Music Festival 2024
"Roots Festival Gig with Moonshine Drinks"
Launched in2008, Maverick Festival is the UK's first and best Americana music event and a beacon for roots music from both sides of the Atlantic.
The festival takes place in the restored Victorian barns and outbuildings of Easton Farm Park, nestled in the Suffolk countryside and just two hours from London. Six stages, indoor and outdoor, will feature performances, talks and workshops from over fifty different artists!
The Maverick Festival is the brainchild of Paul Spencer, who in 2008, after working as a music and video producer in Los Angeles and London, wanted to live in his native Suffolk and bring Americana music to the British people.
The festival scene has come a long way since Woodstock, and keen festival-goers can now break up their summer months with a festival held outdoors every weekend if they wish.
Americana music has its roots in the deep American South, drawing its musicians from Nashville, Memphis and even New Orleans and Muscle Shoals. Roots music, with its jazz, country, folk and blues derivations, has found a rapidly growing audience outside the United States in Europe, Canada and the UK.
Many of the bands that perform at the Maverick Festival stop off on their extensive European tours and camp in the fields surrounding the festival grounds. During the rest of the year, there is a petting zoo and a children's farm with ducks, horses, llamas and peacocks, giving children the opportunity to learn about life on a farm.
The festival starts on Thursday evening with a pre-festival gig in the local pub and ends with a closing gig, also in a nearby pub. Here the festival organizers and staff can relax and enjoy some of the bands they may have missed during the festival.
