SANCHO ABARCA was founded in 1947 and produced under the brand name SANCHO ABARCA in the early years. The company was based in Almansa, Spain. The town lies between Alicante and Madrid and today has a population of around 25,000. After the Second World War, there was great unemployment in Spain and the government planned measures to create jobs out of this need.
One of these measures was to support the people of this region in setting up shoe and leather processing factories. In its early days, SANCHO ABARCA employed 120 people and produced 120 pairs of boots a day - one pair per worker per day. 300 machines were available for the production of Goodyear-stitched (double welted) shoes.

Over the years, "Sancho Abarca" became the company "Sancho Boots Trading" with its now protected brand SANCHO BOOTS. SANCHO BOOTS became very well known, the company was able to increase its production capacity and continuously expand its range, which was sold in over 30 countries.
However, in the wake of the European economic crisis, which hit Spain very hard, bankruptcy proceedings were opened against the company in February 2014 - after 67 years of eventful company history. Shortly afterwards, the factory was closed and production of the popular, world-famous SANCHO BOOTS ceased completely.
But the story continues: in June 2015, a new management team designed and produced a small but fine collection of exquisite boots. This under the label SANCHO ABARCA and in the spirit of "Back to the roots". The unmistakable, classic Sancho models have also been reintroduced into the current range.
Building on the success story of Sancho Boots is one goal. Another, no less important goal is to preserve the traditional art of shoemaking and remain true to the principle from the very beginning - quality over quantity. SANCHO ABARCA boots are currently produced in Valverde del Camino, Andalusia. Most of the approximately 13,000 inhabitants of this town, as in Almansa, still live from the shoe trade today
