No discount battle at Sancho Store

If you live in the country, you're probably familiar with old-school fly traps. An adhesive strip that hangs from the ceiling and anything that gets too close sticks to it.
Modern fly traps are a little more subtle, working with olfactory attractants or light.

That's exactly what Sale is. A sticky trap.

Many people now know it and even more are suppressing it: shopping in a sale today is a far cry from the sales of decades ago, when clothes and shoes were not simply thrown away, but effectively the last items of the past season were sold. This is a real win-win situation.
But what happens in the hysterical discount battle has absolutely nothing to do with this.

We have different areas of the brain that perform different tasks. Fight or flight, fear and courage, punishment and reward. And it is precisely with rewards that the winter sale comes into play.
Instead of writing a treatise on neuroscience here, we encourage you to enter the phrase "what happens to the brain during bargains" into your favorite search engine.
If you take a few minutes, you'll quickly understand that it's all about reward, moments of happiness and eliminating impulse inhibition.

There is nothing wrong with spending less money on something you would like to have, comparing prices and perhaps waiting until the product in question is cheaper. There is nothing wrong with real bargains.

And clearly, all those stores that genuinely and honestly offer discontinued products at a lower price should be praised here. They do exist and there are always more. But unfortunately, the big players are often not represented in this group.

What is forgotten in many sales at large distribution chains is that it is not at all a matter of clearance or end-of-season products. It is often cheaper for the group to throw away than to keep sales space free for slow sellers. What is not sold is disposed of and space is made for new products.
Today, unfortunately, it is often the case that the cheapest products, for example in the fashion industry, are bought solely for the sale and then offered at a supposedly reduced price. However, these items were never available at the "original" price.
It is not difficult to guess at whose expense such dirt-cheap pieces can be offered. Sustainable and ethically correct is hardly to be found in their palmares. Not to mention the quality.

If you buy food at half price because it's close to its expiry date, then you've really done something for your household budget and against the throwaway craze. But if you buy a sweater for 3.95CHF that you don't even particularly like and has lost its shape after 2 washes, but you buy it because the price is listed as 50%, then you are doing exactly the opposite of saving food. This sweater was never offered at 100% price. It was manufactured solely in the cheapest possible process to offer something really cheap and to lure you into a buying frenzy. Since these products rarely match what you are looking for, you will quickly turn to the items with a higher original price.
Even if we are deceived, this is common practice.
No consumer can really be blamed, but we would like to motivate you to think about why all the season sales are so incredibly present.

Sancho Store stands for its long-lasting products. Even the production time is long and the boots and shoes, bags and belts can be repaired again and again. This has its price.
This has remained the same for over 20 years. Despite VAT and fuel prices.
If you find shoes at a reduced price in our small "Sale" category, then these are the last items in a series that is no longer being produced. As we can no longer offer different sizes for these models, we are happy to reduce the price and make room in our warehouse for new models. Not a single product ever ends up as waste.
However, we have deliberately avoided winter sales and similar flypaper for years. We don't sell our souls for glued plastic kicks that we can sell quickly and cheaply. You will look in vain for a discount battle with us. We want our products to be thoughtfully purchased, cherished for a long time and repaired again and again. Reliable companions for life.
