Sancho Abarca Boots - Back to the original Sancho roots
Sancho Abarca Boots
After the bankruptcy of Sancho Boots, it's off to new shores with trendy fashion boots, new Sancho Boots in country style and ankle boots in various leather variations in the Wild West look. Also in the bunch are the classic "Engineer Biker Boots", the Sancho legends "Farmer Boots 541" and the "Delirus 5122". Of course, we also remain true to the cowboy boots and Sancho western boots with the slanted heels and pointed last!
The company SANCHO ABARCA was founded in 1947 and in the first years also produced under the brand name SANCHO ABARCA. The company was based in Almansa, Spain. The city is located between Alicante and Madrid and today has about 25.000 inhabitants. After World War 2, there was a great unemployment in Spain and the government planned measures to create jobs out of this need. These included helping people of this region to set up shoe and leather processing factories. SANCHO ABARCA employed 120 workers in its early days and produced 120 pairs of boots a day - one pair per worker per day. 300 machines were ready to produce Goodyear-stitched (double welt) shoes.
Over the years, "Sancho Abarca" became the company "Sancho Boots Trading" with its now protected brand SANCHO BOOTS. The SANCHO BOOOTS achieved a high level of recognition, the company was able to incerease the production capacity and continuously expand its range, which found its sales in over 30 countries.
However, in the context of the European economic crisis, which hit Spain very hard, bankruptcy proceedings were opened against the company in Feburary 2014 - after 67 years of eventful history. Shortly thereafter, the factory was closed and the production of the popular, world-famous SANCHO BOOTS completely ceased.
